Shihan Cailey Barker

Sensei Cailey Barker is the shihan (master) and founder of Bushin. Known for his extensive knowledge and skill in the martial arts, his dedication and infectious enthusiasm have provided a backdrop for high quality instruction.

Sensei began his martial art career as a child and now spans over 26 years. He has experience in a number of styles including Jeet Kune Do, Shorinji Kempo, Taekwondo, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Thai boxing, Kali and many others. In Shorinji Kempo he reached the highly coveted grade of 5th dan black belt and was senior instructor and executive committee member of the British Shorinji Kempo Federation. During his tenure, he founded and instructed at a number of clubs in England, Africa and Japan. He also competed at National, European and International level and obtained a number of awards including achieving the highest rank outside of Japan.

On why he wears a white belt:

“When I started I just tried to punch and kick like Bruce Lee. Over the years I trained hard, honed my skills, competed and taught. I then studied theory and philosophy, and developed spiritually. Now I just try to punch and kick like Bruce Lee.”…Let’s get to work!

Sensei Ian FergusonSensei Ian Ferguson

Sensei Ian is an instructor, 3rd dan black belt and founding member of Bushin. He started practicing martial arts at the tender age of age of six, now with over 30 years’ experience. Sensei Ian has a mixed martial arts background including Karate, Aikido, Kickboxing and Shorinji Kempo, where he achieved the rank of 3rd dan black belt and was club instructor for a number of years.
