Sparring Seminar – Date Change
The sparring seminar is postponed by a week to next Thurs 10th May. There are quite a few people away or out of action and, more importantly, the padlock is bust on our box so I can’t get to the sparring kit at the moment. Apologies for this but hopefully won’t make a difference to you all.
Fighting the Good Fight
Reminder – Sparring Seminar next thurs 3rd May. Learn some techniques and tactics to bring your sparring up to a new level. Bring all your sparring kit and get ready to sweat!
12 tips to success:
1. Good stance – hands up at all times. Keep it tight.
2. Footwork & bodywork – never stop moving.
3. Breathe – feed your body to go the distance
4. Relax – keep the shoulders relaxed and the body loose.
5. Focus – keep eye contact and don’t let your mind drift.
6. No weakness. Always be confident and show no weakness even if you are tired, hurt or struggling.
7. Distance – mix it up and find the right range. If you’re losing on the trade, stretch it out or close in.
8. Keep it fresh – re-fresh and re-load anytime you make a mistake or miss.
9. Mix it up – forward pressure boxing, leaning back and flash kicks, side step and cheeky shot, trap, stick and move. Single style fighters eventually get beat. Use your imagination and throw it all in.
10. Never give up – don’t be complacent if you’re wining and don’t lose heart if you’re losing. The tide can always turn.
11. Fight every second. Keep the pace up and be busy

Bushin’s Got Talent
Sensei Ian and I made the cut for the show opener for Britain’s Got Talent! Ok, so not much Bushin was involved in then end but it was a good crack nonetheless. At least we manage to throw a few punches in the dance routine. Next stop Hollywood!

Free Self Defence Tasters
“Try out some practical self defence from the Bushin martial art. There will be 20 minute taster sessions where you will learn extremely useful defence techniques and tips to stay street safe. Turn up in your normal clothes, learn from the masters and have some fun!”
We are running some free self defence taster sessions as part of the City of Westminster’s “Be Active” week. These will be three 20 minute sessions between 12 midday and 1pm on Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29thMarch. It will be at Westminster City Hall on Victoria Street, a short walk from Victoria Station. You can register online for any of the classes. More details to follow.
